The Washington County Judge/Executive is responsible for the execution of all ordinance and resolutions, contracts entered into by the Fiscal Court, and all state laws, subject to the enforcement by him or the officers under his supervision. This includes administration of the county governments as well as keeping the Fiscal Court informed of the operations of the county departments.

The Judge/Executive is responsible for the financial administration for the county budget, appropriation of county funds approved by Fiscal Court, quarterly financial reporting to the Fiscal Court, and oversees the county roads. The Judge/Executive also has the authority to appoint, supervise, suspend, and remove county personnel. He must assure representation of the county on all boards, commissions, special districts, and multi-county programs in which the county must participate. Statutes also direct that the Judge/Executive be a member of various boards and commissions. The Judge/Executive is a member of and presiding officer of the Washington County Fiscal Court.
